About AIE

AIE is the management entity for music performers and executant musicians. Located in Spain, it has headquarters in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville. Pursuant to the provisions of the Law on Intellectual Property, AIE manages the intellectual property rights of music performers.

It was established in 1989 with the authorization of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and remains under its supervision to perform these functions under the Spanish Law on Intellectual Property of 1987, contained in the Consolidated Text of the Law on Intellectual Property, approved by Royal Legislative Decree No. 1/1996 of 12 April 1996, and amended up to Law No. 2/2019 of 1 March 2019.

AIE is a collective, committed and democratic nonprofit society that manages and defends the rights of music performers in Spain and in the rest of Europe, in Latin America and the Caribbean, the US, Asia and in all countries and regions of the world where the intellectual property rights of musicians are ensured and applied.

AIE has over 23.000 members in Spain and, through the performers‘ international database created by AIE along with other management entities, it represents the repertoire of over 800.000 music performers, whose rights are enforced by means of periodic distribution processes.

AIE holds 85 reciprocity agreements, currently in force, with sister societies worldwide.

The President of AIE Society of Artists is conductor and composer Luis Cobos, who also chairs the Ibero Latin American Federation of Performers FILAIE, consisting of most artist societies of Latin America, Portugal and Spain.

AIE presides the International Performers Database Association IPDA.

Luis Cobos is President Emeritus of the Latin Recording Academy and President of the Latin Grammy Foundation Council.

The Honorary Chairman of AIE Society of Artists is His Majesty King Felipe VI.
