AIE affiliates are entitled to a series of rights when their musical works are used in Spain and in other countries of the world. In order to collect these rights, AIE holds reciprocity agreements with the management entities that represent performers in different countries. By means of these agreements, management entities across the world can exchange the necessary information with the help of international databases, identify performers and match them with their performances, and verify this information with the relevant management societies of each country with which performers are affiliated.
Afterwards, the corresponding remuneration is exchanged with the relevant foreign management entities and included in the annual distributions these entities carry out among their legitimate recipients.
Thus, AIE members are receiving the remuneration generated by their music performances in the world’s main countries. As of December 1, 2025, AIE has 113 reciprocity agreements with 82 organizations in 59 countries, meaning that virtually all countries with established rights and laws that protect performers rights hold an agreement with AIE.
