BECASAIE Grant Program 2023/2024

AIE allocates 10% of its budget to the promotion and support of performers. Within the field of music, education remains a fundamental pillar, and AIE is proud to offer another year of the BECASAIE Grant Program for the realization of musical studies at notable music schools, as well as for further musical training for performers in Spain or abroad.

The BECASAIE Grant Program is aimed at music students of intermediate and superior degrees, depending on the type of grant, and at working professional musicians. These grants are applicable for the school year 2023/2024, except for the summer courses corresponding to 2023.

The call for applications for the 2023/2024 AIE Scholarships will be open from mid-February to the end of March. The opening and closing dates will be communicated soon. AIE will inform all applicants, in writing, of the concession or rejection of the grant. If an applicant cannot accept an awarded grant for whatever reason, applicants shall be informed of their eligibility for this grant.

How to apply for a grant

Before submitting your application

Individuals applying for any BECASAIE Grant need to fulfil the following requirements:

  1. Being a music student or an active professional musician, regardless of the instrument(s) -vocals included- or the music genres employed, including new technologies.
  2. Being a Spanish resident or being a Latin American or EU citizen with a Spanish residence permit.
  3. Applicants for BECASAIE Specialization Grants shall send, along with their application form and personal CV, a copy of their most recent tax declaration or, failing that, of the tax declaration of their parents or tutors.

The call for applications for the 2023/2024 AIE Scholarships will be open from mid-February to the end of March. The opening and closing dates will be communicated soon. It is very important to always read the 2022/2023 General terms and conditions of the call before submitting any application.

Selection process

After receiving your application, and if all required documentation is correct, this will be taken into account for the study and selection of grant holders.

Later, a list with the names of the selected grant holders will be published in our web. If any document is missing, or if any mistake is detected, AIE will contact all applicants concerned.

The selection process is carried out by a committee of renowned music professionals appointed by AIE who will consider all merits, academic and artistic, of each applicant. For the BECASAIE Specialization Grants selection process, the committee will Schedule an audition and/or a personal interview for those candidates who obtain the highest score in the qualification records.

Notification and result

In accordance with the deadlines established in the current call for submissions, AIE will inform all applicants individually of the concession or rejection of the grant.

After this time, AIE will publish the final list of grant holders.

List of grants offered by AIE

105 grants for musical training or extension of music studies

Grants amounting up to 600€ each

Grants for music studies or training in official and informal music schools, both within Spain and abroad.

– 12 BECASAIE Grants for the five following music schools with which AIE has established a collaboration agreement:

– 44 BECASAIE Grants for the thirteen following REEM schools (Spanish Network of Music Schools):

Thanks to these agreements, all the mentioned music schools contribute around 40% per grant of the total value of these 56 grants. If the total value of the grant does not cover the total amount for registration and enrolment fees, the grant holder shall bear the difference at his or her own expense.

44 BECASAIE GRANTS FOR MUSICAL TRAINING OR EXTENSION OF MUSICAL STUDIES in informal music schools, both within Spain and abroad, to be chosen freely.

5 BECASAIE GRANTS FOR MUSICAL TRAINING OR EXTENSION OF MUSIC STUDIES for AIE members over the age of 35 in informal music schools, both within Spain and abroad, to be chosen freely.

27 BECASAIE Specialization Grants

Grants amounting up to 6000€ each

Grants for Superior Degree studies or higher degree musical training in prestigious music centres, both national and international. The maximum amount for each of these grants will be 6000€, with the possibility of receiving additional support from the designated school.

These grants are distributed as follows:

  • 5 Grants of 4000€ for music studies in informal music schools (both within Spain and abroad).
  • 4 Grants of 4000€ for Superior Degree studies at Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
  • 3 Grants of 6000€ for music studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, United States. This college contributes another 6000€ per grant holder.
  • 1 Grant of 4000€ for music studies at Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona. Aimed at Regulated Superior Degree Studies.
  • 1 Grant of 4000€ for music studies at Taller de Musics in Barcelona, aimed at Regulated Superior Degree studies.
  • 1 Grant of 4000€ for music studies at Alfonso X el Sabio University, aimed at Superior Music Studies.
  • 1 Grant of 4000€ for music studies at Centro Superior Música Creativa in Madrid, aimed at Superior Music Studies.
  • 2 Grant of 2000€ for music studies at Jam Session Escuela de Música in Barcelona, aimed at Superior Rock Music Studies.
  • 3 Grants of 1000€ for music studies at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts – LIPA, United Kingdom. These grants are aimed at students of Superior Music Studies who have already passed with success the official entrance exams of this institute in accordance with its schedule.   • 1 ‘Tete Montoliu Jazz Grant’ of 2000€ for jazz music studies in informal music schools.
  • 2 Grants of 2000€ each for music studies at Musikene San Sebastián, aimed at Superior Music Studies in the fields of Classical Interpretation and Jazz.
  • 3 Grants of 1350€ each for music studies at Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), for students of the Master of Advanced Interpretation Studies (MEAI) for classical and contemporary music instruments.

These grants are aimed at informal music schools both within Spain and abroad.

6 Grants for Manuel de Falla International Courses

Grants amounting up to 300€ each

AIE offers grants for these prestigious international courses organized by the International Music and Dance Festival of Granada.

Grants are offered for the following courses:

  • Academia Barroxa del Festival de Granada
  • Curso de magistrales de canto coral
  • Clases magistrales de música de cámara para cuerdas
  • Clases magistrales de piano
  • Curso de análisis musical. Beethoven en la música de los siglos XX y XXI

Aimed at students who are not residing in Granada. Candidates will be selected by a committee specifically created for this purpose. The award of the grant will be notified to all applicants as of 3 June 2021. AIE will process the payment of the grants directly with their holders.

Courses, masterclasses or workshops may be canceled if a minimum number of enrolled students is not reached, at the discretion of the organization of Manuel de Falla Courses.
